
Kai West
Community Waitākere is a key member of the Kai West Steering Committee, collaborating with organizations such as Ecomatters, Fair Food, Glenavon Community Hub, Healthy Families Sport Waitākere, Massey Matters, MPHS and Hub West, Visionwest, and WEST Auckland Skills and Enterprise Training. Together. They work to enhance local food initiatives, aiming to create a nourished West Auckland where residents have access to healthy, affordable, and culturally appropriate food from a local and regenerative food system.
Kai West has been instrumental in driving food sustainability initiatives in West Auckland. In December 2022, they completed the Waitākere Urban Farm Feasibility Study, exploring the potential for a local urban farm to support food resilience and education. Their 2018-2023 Impact Report highlights key achievements, including strengthening community food networks, supporting local food enterprises, and advocating for food justice across the region. Through these projects, Kai West continues to foster collaboration and innovation in the local food ecosystem.
